Chiropractic offices offer massage therapy services for patients

Chiropractic offices have really jumped into the action over the past few years. Many chiropractic offices now offer at least the two most common types of massage, the Swedish massage and deep tissue massage for their patients.

At a chiropractic office, the massage service is usually an additional cost to the chiropractic adjustment. The massage is an excellent way to relax the body prior to receiving your adjustment, allowing for better movement.

When the muscles are relaxed, they loosen their grip on the bones. This allows for more mobility in the spine and joints…and a more effective adjustment. If possible, be sure to enjoy your massage before receiving your alignment.

Many insurance companies will work with patients when massage services are prescribed by and provided through chiropractic offices. Check with your insurance company and see what the details are pertaining to you, if they cover massage and if so, how many services, etc.

Doctors’ offices offer massage therapy, especially for maternity massage

Certain doctors’ offices are following suit with chiropractic offices. Many of them are now offering massage therapy services to their patients.

Most massage therapy that is being offered through doctors’ offices is for expecting mothers. If you are pregnant and in your first trimester, however, it is highly recommended you skip massage altogether. Please review contraindications.

If you have advanced into your second or third trimester and your doctor has confirmed that you are able to receive massage, then you can receive maternity massage (a/k/a prenatal or pregnancy massage).

Ask your doctor if their office offers massage and if so, see if your insurance will cover it. If massage therapy is not available through their office, inquire as to whether or not they can connect you to a massage therapist qualified in maternity massage.
