Cancer day for survivors
This post is being written to encourage everyone possible to participate in a special cancer day for survivors.
Cancer survivors of all ages and of any form of cancer are encouraged to receive the gift of a complimentary beauty service on the first Tuesday of June. This event was initiated by Cancer Survivor Beauty and Support Day™ (CSBSD™).
What is Cancer Survivor Beauty And Support Day™
Cancer Survivor Beauty and Support Day™ is a nationwide event that started in Chicago in 2003. This special event now takes place annually, in all fifty states, on the first Tuesday in June.
On this particular Tuesday, volunteers in the beauty related industries offer complimentary services to all cancer survivors, including children. All survivors are invited to receive this gift, regardless of the type of cancer or when they were diagnosed.
Participating spas and salons volunteer their service. This is not a fundraising event, nor is it a solicitation. Discretion is a priority with the providers and, unless a client announces that they are a survivor (social media, email, etc.), no one else will know.
Services provided
The spas and salons that participate in this event decide which service(s) they will be offering to all cancer survivors. They will post a CSBSD™ flyer or their own individual notice to inform their clients. Cancer survivors are encouraged to reserve their appointment as soon as possible, as it is only for one day.
To find a spa or salon participating in this event, please refer to the list provided here on their website, Cancer Survivor Beauty and Support Day™ (CSBSD™). All locations are posted by state and city, in alphabetical order.
If, after consulting the list, there is not listed a participating spa or salon near a survivor’s city, then the cancer survivor is encouraged to email directly CSBSD™ at bnp@cancersurvivorbeautyandsupportday.org.
Please include the names and telephone numbers of a few establishments closest to the desired location. CSBSD™ will contact them to hopefully add them to the participation list.
