What is an ionic foot bath?

The ionic foot bath, often referred to as a foot bath detox, is a relatively new treatment (at least in the USA). The ionic foot detox is simple and allows the body to detox through feet.

Ionic foot baths work via the aide of an instrument (ionic array module) that releases ions into a tub of clean water. Ions enter your body through the feet. They neutralize the acid and waste trapped in the body’s tissues, and then flush them out through the feet.

Foot detox benefits

One of the first foot detox benefits to note, is that an ionic foot bath is an easy, quick fix if you’re running short on time.

This foot bath is quick and helps rid the body of damaging toxins, impurities, chemicals, radiation, synthetics and heavy metals. Any and all of these can cause issues within the body such as a breakdown in the immune system, glands to malfunction, achy joints, loss of energy, swelling, etc.

With these impurities removed, one can anticipate having a clearer mind, better energy, a stronger immune system, less pain and less inflammation. Clearing the filth helps maintain healthier internal systems and, overall, a healthier body.

This detox method is not expensive, invasive or time consuming. Therefore, it makes a perfect addition to a weekly health regimen.

The detoxifying foot bath is not recommended for expecting mothers, those with pacemakers or individuals who have undergone an organ transplant.

What to expect from an ionic foot bath detox treatment

The ionic foot bath detox is as basic as a spa treatment can get. There aren’t any frills or fluff involved. In fact, you may find yourself sitting in the front lobby of a chiropractor’s office or in a quiet area somewhere within a spa.

You will remain dressed, but wear something easy to roll up (or shorts). Before beginning the service, you’ll need to roll up your pant legs, remove socks, hose, watch, magnets and metallic jewelry. Always remove any jewelry on the feet or ankles to keep it clean.

Throughout the treatment, you will be seated with your feet soaking in warm water. The general time allotted for the foot detox machine to run is thirty minutes per session.

Strangely, as you sit and stare at your feet, you will see different colors and textures emerge into the water. This is normal–and the reason why you are having the foot bath.

The colors and textures are the toxins your body is releasing from different areas and organs of the body. As the timer ticks, the water will continue to darken.

When the session is over, your practitioner will remove your feet from the water, one at a time. They will rinse them with cool water and dry them for you. Now you can put your jewelry back on.

Before you leave, they will discuss the results of your detoxifying foot bath.

After your session and how often to have one

After your session, you will probably be amazed at how the water changed. However, you should be relaxed while having more energy and thinking clearer.

You might feel lighter or even a bit lightheaded, especially if you have not eaten. Don’t panic, this is due to the toxins having been released. Drink plenty of water to help your body flush any remaining released toxins from your system.

To get the most from your detox, avoid smoking and alcoholic beverages while maintaining cleaner eating habits. Without doing so, all of these will simply replace the toxins the foot bath has eliminated.

If you are trying to heal yourself from an actual illness, pain from arthritis, glandular dysfunction or other health concern, try to go for an ionic foot bath once a week. It is advised to leave three days between detoxifying foot baths for the body to adjust.

This treatment is an excellent addition at the end of an oral detox program or while working through an issue as it expedites the flushing out of the toxins that are stirred up. If you simply want to maintain overall good health, go whenever possible, respecting the same rule as to how many days you leave in between.

DIY foot detox at home

The best part of this detox method is that it makes for an easy DIY foot detox at home. If you want a foot detox machine for yourself, they’re not that expensive. In fact, in most places, after just three appointments, you would have paid for your own machine!

If you prefer using the foot detox pads, those are convenient as well. Results will vary between the methods, so you might want to consider alternating.

Either way, the simplicity cannot be denied and neither can the importance of an occasional detox for optimum health.
