What is Raindrop therapy?
Raindrop therapy (raindrop technique), is an aromatherapy massage that concentrates on the spine, neck and feet. This is a non-invasive, effective, powerful treatment. Best known for relieving pain, it also quiets the mind and assists the natural healing process.
Benefits of Raindrop therapy
Benefits of Raindrop therapy exceed the mere luxury of a relaxing aromatherapy treatment. Although recently developed in the 1980’s by D. Gary Young, this holistic treatment already has an impressive track record.
Raindrop technique’s approach to working with the spine has led to reports of assisting with scoliosis and kyphosis. Additionally, it has proven valuable in thwarting the need for back surgery.
However, you don’t need a back concern to have this massage. In fact, most people can benefit from this beautiful service.
Raindrop for detox and more
Because the Raindrop technique is an aromatherapy massage, it serves as an excellent detox method. And, as discussed throughout this website, it is important for everyone to detox every now and again.
To achieve detoxification, this type of massage uses pure, therapeutic grade essential oils. These oils are carefully selected. The criteria they must meet is based on their level of antioxidants and effectiveness in the removal of viruses and bacteria.
Detox encourages a stronger immune system, which leads to fewer health problems. The essential oils and their application work together for the following benefits.
- boost energy
- elevate moods
- increase circulation
- improve digestion
- quiet nervous system
- strengthen natural defense system
- strengthen respiratory system
The combination of this list results in a quiet, calm state of mind. When the mind is at peace, the body can heal. Therefore, the Raindrop technique not only reduces stress (emotional and physical), but also relieves pain.
Summing it up, this treatment is a valuable aromatherapy massage that improves the overall quality of well-being.
Before booking your service
The Raindrop treatment is usually a 50-minute treatment. However, please confirm the details when booking your treatment. Also, be aware of contraindications or allergies you might have before making your appointment.
The following Raindrop therapy description is a general overview of this service. Although therapists will perform this technique similarly, it may vary a bit.
What to expect from Raindrop therapy
For your treatment, your therapist will show you to the room. After a few questions, they’ll ask you to disrobe and lay face down on the table, under the covers. Leaving the room, they’ll give you privacy to get ready.
When they return, they will begin with your back. The massage therapist will apply several specific, powerful essential oils along your spine. These oils will drip slowly from approximately six inches above you. Dripping slowly, the sensation creates the raindrop effect before moving into your energy field.
After the oils are applied, they are massaged in along the spine and through the neck area. They’ll also implement a variety of hand techniques. Each move will help the body receive the chosen oils.
Base oil, such as grape seed or sunflower seed, is now added. This is massaged in to dilute the potency of the essential oils.
Heat will now be applied to the back. If you get too warm, let them know.
While your back is relaxing, the therapist will work along the legs, ankles and feet. Then they’ll seamlessly move into finishing the Raindrop treatment with light massage and energy work.
After your treatment and how often to have the Raindrop technique
Your massage will leave you very relaxed. Drink plenty of water to flush out any released toxins.
However, don’t rush to shower after the service. For maximum benefit, leave the oils on for as long as possible. If you can’t do that, then ask your therapist how long you should wait before showering.
If you chose it to address health concerns, you may need it more frequently. Discuss this with your therapist to design a schedule suited to your needs and goals.
