Walk in massage therapy locations, fitness centers (gyms) and salons are quite common in cities. Most of these establishments offer at least the basic Swedish massage and deep tissue massage.
Some walk in massage locations will offer a variety of massage therapy services. In addition, depending on their staff and facilities, there are some that offer a few spa treatments (minus fancy spa amenities).
Walk in process
The beauty of walk in massage locations is that you can often score a last minute appointment. When on the go, this can be the ideal set up.
Although they do book appointments, they tend to be more flexible with availability than many of their better equipped competitors. While this is not always true, luck is usually in your corner.
The environment is generally peaceful yet casual. It may be more open or have private sections.
In very open establishments, you might check in and be told to go to a certain station if receiving manicure or pedicure, without any formal greeting.
For a massage, most often, the therapist will greet you and escort you to the treatment room.
When having massage services or spa treatments, you will change in and out of your clothes in the treatment room. These establishments (except for gyms) usually do not provide a locker room, robe or slippers. Nor will you find the sauna, steam room, water facilities, etc.
Most people go for a massage for the massage itself. The amenities are wonderful, luxurious additions to any massage service but certainly are not necessary.
If you don’t mind the lack of frills, you might find these facilities are the perfect answer to meet your needs. After all, this is a great way to squeeze a massage into a busy schedule while keeping the costs down.
